Mastercard Unveils Five NFT Tracks through its Web3 Accelerator

Mastercard's groundbreaking Web3 music initiative, known as The Mastercard Artist Accelerator, is reaching an exciting conclusion this month with an anticipated showcase. The program has nurtured and empowered five international artists, equipping them with essential tools and skills to thrive in the digital economy. Each artist will debut their AI-driven single during a live-streamed event, The Mastercard Artist Accelerator Showcase Presented by Billboard, scheduled for Thursday, July 27, at 3 p.m. ET.

The Integration of AI and Web3 in Music Creation

The Artist Accelerator Program took a unique approach to produce the showcased tracks. Utilizing the AI Music Studio developed by the generative AI music technology leader WarpSound, each artist crafted a distinctive single. The Web3 program, centered around the community, successfully saw over 100,000 people mint the limited-edition, multisensory Mastercard Music Pass NFT. Each performance during the live showcase will be available as an NFT on the OneOf Marketplace on July 27.

The artists added their personal touch to the tracks by incorporating the Mastercard sonic DNA into their creations and providing creative direction for the cover art of their singles. This aspect of the program aimed to equip the artists with skills to create and establish their own brand through Web3 experiences, such as minting NFTs, representing themselves in virtual worlds, and fostering an engaged community.

Spotlighting the Artists

Mastercard's venture into Web3 music began with the launch of a limited-edition Mastercard NFT at NFT.NYC 2023, signifying the start of this ambitious project. Now, the upcoming showcase stands as a testament to Mastercard's commitment to leveraging blockchain and Web3 technologies for the betterment of the music industry and its artist community.

The showcase will feature a remarkable lineup of artists from the inaugural class of the Mastercard Artist Accelerator. Among them are Young Athena, a London-based R&B soul singer and BRIT School alumna; LeriQ, a Nigerian R&B and afrobeat record producer and songwriter; Cocoa Sarai, a Brooklyn-born American-Jamaican songstress; Emily Vu, a Vietnamese American pop-artist advocating for LGBTQ+ rights; and Manu Manzo, a Venezuelan pop singer, songwriter, and producer.

Raja Rajamannar, Mastercard's Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, expressed his enthusiasm for the program and its impact on the music industry, stating, "We’ve seen how emerging technology can push creativity to new heights and give us opportunities to connect with people in exciting ways. Throughout this program, these artists have explored an entirely new space that will have a lasting impact on the music industry, and we’re thrilled that we were a part of their journey."

The Artist Accelerator initiative represents a significant milestone in leveraging blockchain and Web3 technologies, echoing the earlier report about the launch of a limited-edition Mastercard NFT in April. The success of the program underscores the immense potential and versatility of these technologies within the music industry and beyond.

As the showcase approaches, anticipation grows for the vibrant artist roster ready to make their mark in the Web3 music landscape. The event will celebrate not only the culmination of the program but also the promising beginning of these artists' journeys in the digital music industry.
